Shibashi Qigong – Set 2 (Taiji Qigong 18 – Part 2)

shibashi set 2

Shibashi Set 2 is a flowing sequence of 18 gentle movements designed to deepen relaxation, improve balance, and harmonise breath with coordinated whole-body motion. Rooted in traditional Qigong principles and influenced by Tai Chi, this set builds on the foundations of Set 1 with slightly more expansive spirals, weight shifts, and cross-lateral patterns.

The movements mobilise the spine, hips, and shoulders while encouraging smooth, diaphragmatic breathing. Particular emphasis is placed on coordinated waist rotation, soft knee flexion, and continuous, unbroken transitions — promoting joint mobility, postural alignment, and improved circulation.

Suitable for all levels, Set 2 enhances body awareness, supports energy flow (Qi), and cultivates calm focus. It is ideal for those looking to develop greater fluidity, stability, and internal connection within their Qigong practice.

Aims

Introduce Qigong principles and practice; develop awareness of flow, body alignment, relaxation, mindfulness, strength and flexibility.

Objectives

Teach the set with accurate form and breath coordination; apply balance and mindful movement to support wellbeing. Include potential adaptations for client needs/abilities.
